What does it mean to "manage" my domain and how do I manage it?
If you've ever dealt with the management of your domain, you know that with other registrars, it can be a difficult and lengthy process. The smallest change, from changing your email address in your contact information, or altering the nameservers of your host, can require multiple, confusing emails. Now, however, UnicDomains.com gives you the ability to make all of those changes online! You can change your contact information or nameservers in just a few seconds, using our secure system. Access your domain from any web browser 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, using your username and password on the Domain Management Control Panel.

To manage your domain, log on to our Domain Management Control Panel by clicking on the "MEMBER Login" link on the menu bar in the top left-hand menu of of our Home Page. Input your username and password to log on to our secure server. If you can't remember your username and/or password, please go to the "I can't remember my username and/or password, can you send it to me?" questions below. Once logged in you will see a Menu. Select the appropriate link.

How do I change the default information for my account?
Log on to our Domain Management Control Panel by clicking on the
"
MEMBER Login" link on the menu bar in the top left-hand menu of our Home Page. Input your username and password to log on to our secure server. If you can't remember your username and/or password, please go to the "I can't remember my username and/or password, can you send it to me?" questions below. Once logged in you will see a Menu. Select the "Update Account Information" link . Edit your personal information.

Important note: The changes you do to the default information in the "Update Account Information" section will only apply on future domain name registrations. The modifications will not update any previously registered domain names. The following will explain how to modify information on previously registered domains.

To modify contact information on previously registered domains, you will need to modify the contact handle(s) associated with the domain(s). Please refer to the "How do I change my administrative, billing and/or technical contact?" question below.

To change the DNS Name Servers associated with previously registered domains, please refer to  the "How do I change the DNS information for my Domain Name?" question below.

If you require to modify the registrant name on a previously registered domain, please refer to the "
How can I change the registrant info?" question.

My email address has changed, how do I update my the account?
It is a two steps operation involving updating the default information of the account and also updating the contact handles for your existing domains.

First, you will need to update your email address in the default information for your account.  The default information will apply on future domain registrations.
To do this, log in the
Domain Management Control Panel by clicking on the
Select the "Update Account Information" link and edit your personal information.

Important note: The changes you do to the default information  (as outlined above) in the "Update Account Information" section will only apply on future domain name registrations. The modifications will not update any previously registered domain names. The following will explain how to modify information on previously registered domains.

Next, you need to modify the contact handles associated with any domain that you have in your account. This is important as we use the email address from the administrative contact handle to send renewal notices when your domain is about to expire. By not having a current and valid email address puts you at risk of losing your domain if and when it expires.

Updating  the administrative, billing and technical contact handles can be accomplished via the Management Control Panel. To begin, click the MEMBER login link on the left-hand side of our website at www.UnicDomains.com. Enter your username and password. If you can't remember your username and/or password, please go to the "I can't remember my username and/or password, can you send it to me?" questions below.

Once logged in the Management Control Panel, click the "
Edit/ Manage Contact Handles" link. A contact handle is a shorthand version of all of your contact information. You can edit any of your contact handles here (click the "Edit" button next to the handle), or create new ones (click the "Create New Handle" link at the top of the page). If you do not have any handle associated with your domain or domains, you need to create one. Once you have the contact handle information the way you want it, return to the main screen of the Manager.

Next, click the "
Assign Domain Contacts" link. A list of your domains, as well as the current IYD contact handle associated with the domains, will show. Choose the domain you'd like to change information for, and click the Continue button.

Choose what information you'd like to update: admin, billing and/or technical, and click the
Continue button. You may choose any of the IYD contact handles you have set up in our system.

Click the
Continue button to finalize the change. Our system will update immediately, however, it will take 24-48 hours for the information to propagate Internet-wide.

How can I make changes to the registrant info.?
Some people wish to update their address that has changed, or the company name, which has been bought out. Others want to remove their ownership information for security purposes.

Changing the registrant information requires a higher level of security, since it affects the ownership of a domain. You should also be aware that it may affect your ownership adversely. For example, should someone file a WIPO claim to this domain, one of the ways ICANN will resolve the dispute is to immediately terminate a disputed domain if the information provided is known to be false.

Should you wish to go ahead with a change of ownership or simply make some minor changes to the ownership information such as a spelling mistake of an address change, then follow these steps:

Click on the Ownership Change button in the Management Control Panel. You will supplied with a choice of questions. Make sure to remember your choice and answer as this will used from now on as an additional security step in order to do any additional Ownership change or should you wish to modify the registrar lock setting. Then on the next page, click on Ownership Change again and check the domain(s) for which you want to modify information and finally click on the change button at the bottom of the page. Please note that all fields are required except Company and Fax. Please enter a valid email address in the email field. This is how we can communicate with you important information such as when your domain is about to expire. Not putting any email or an invalid email puts you at risk of losing your domain.

Using the Ownership Change service is now free of charge.

How can I sell my domain to someone else or change ownership?
Use the Ownership Change link in the Domain Management Control Panel to change the registrant info. for your domain to show the new owner's information. You will then be given the choice to push the domain to another existing account at UnicDomains.com or open a new account in the new owner's name and then push the domain in that account. There is no charge for this new service.

What is a DNS?
DNS (Domain Name System) is a system that translates a domain name from letters (NS1.UNICDOMAINS.COM) into a numerical IP address (64.94.117.195).
Each time you register a domain name you must specify your DNS information.  If you register a domain name through UnicDomains.com, you can use our DNS information free of charge! This is known in the industry as "parking" a domain. Parking is free using UnicDomains.com's default servers. You can also change the DNS information at any time, also free of charge, but be aware, your new DNS host may charge you a parking fee...

Why would I need to change my DNS information?

We recommend ICDSOFT for Web Hosting as they offer one of the best value for your money and they have excellent on-line support. You get 333 MB web space, unlimited e-mail accounts, FrontPage 2000 extensions and super fast servers.

What is registration lock?
UnicDomains.com is now pleased to offer you the ability to lock your domain. For the low price of just $2.50 per domain per year. Keep your domain secure from potential "domain hijacking"! A domain hijacking occurs when someone tries to redirect your DNS or worse, transfer your domain to another registrar and change the ownership away from you without your permission.
Once you lock a domain, you will have to return to the Registration Lock function in the Management Control Panel to unlock it if you want to make any changes, such as DNS changes, renewals, or transfers. This extra security will help prevent unauthorized changes.
To enable Registration Lock, login to your Domain Management Control Panel by
clicking the "MEMBER Login" link in the left-hand menu bar of our HOME page and enter Username and Password. Then click on the Registration Lock title. You will be asked to choose a security question. Then enter your answer to that question. Once in the registration lock page you will have a choice of adding, edit or renew a lock or locks in your account.

I can't remember my username and/or password, can you send it to me?
If you can't remember your username and/or password, enter the email address on record for your account in the "Forget your password?" box. An email containing your username and password will be mailed to that address.
If you get the message "The email you entered is not recognized", this means that the email address in your account at UnicDomains.com does not match the email you have entered in the forget your password box. In this case, please send us an email containing at least one of the domain names inside your account the last 4 digits of the credit card that you have used for your account and your new email address that you wish to use for the account. If the credit card matches our records we will update your email address.

How can I open a new account without registering a domain name?
If you have domains under a username and password, you can create a new account and move a domain in your current account to that new account.

The best way to create a new account is to go to our home page and search for a domain that does not exist, such as sde5wfa6sfwe.com.

When that comes up as available, click the Checkout button and then enter the New User section. Fill out the default information for the new account, and click Continue. (If you like, you may enter default credit card info as the following- VISA 4444444444444444 03/03 This is a "dummy" credit card account.)

After your new account has been verified, click the Cancel button to stop the registration. You will not be charged, and the domain will not be registered if you click the Cancel button, but the account will have been created and will be valid.
